Facet-selective adsorption on noble metal crystals guided by electrostatic potential surfaces of aromatic molecules.

The molecular facet-selective adsorption on aromatic molecules and noble metal crystals was investigated. It was found that the binding selectivity to Pt(111) is guided by negative electrostatic potential on the surfaces of aromatic molecules, while a neutral to positive one favors Pt(100).
