Cadmium telluride detectors are a relatively recent development which have found application as nuclear radiation dosimeters and probes. CdTe detectors are suitable for the present application for a number of reasons: the CdTe detector is a semiconductor detector, in which an electrical charge is produced directly from a gamma-ray interaction. This report presen s our experience with a CdTe detector which we have mounted in a commercially available refractive index HPLC detector, allowing simultaneous monitoring of the bulk properties of gamma radiation of eluting radiochemical species.
